The clay is sourced from the banks of the Quao River and is flexible and resilient when burnt. Mixing sand and clay requires a variety of abilities. The amount of sand used with the plastic substance is determined by the pottery's intended function and size. Bau Truc pottery differs from other ceramics throughout these seasons. People in arid and sunny locations, for example, like water jars made of Bau Truc pottery because the water within the jars is always one centigrade cooler than the outside temperature.

Bau Truc items reflect the life, culture, and beliefs of the inhabitants. They range from ordinary household items like jars, pots, pans, and kettles to religious sculptures, reliefs, and artistic patterns.
