The History Of Dalat Railway Station:

Major infrastructure projects were begun following the French occupation of Vietnam as part of the colonialists''mission civilastrice'. The French constructed energy-generating plants, French-style buildings, roads, parks, canals, and, of course, a railroad system. In the early twentieth century, Paul Doumer, the French Governor-General of Indochina from 1897 to 1902, sanctioned the building of a 200 million franc railway line from Thap Cham in Ninh Thuan province to Da Lat.

Dalat Train Station is not only a stunning architectural marvel in Dalat City, but it also has an important role in the history of Vietnam's railway sector.

Dalat Railway Station is one of two government-recognized landmarks in Dalat, located at an elevation of more than 1500 meters above sea level and one of Indochina's oldest stations.

The French built Dalat Railway Station in 1932 and completed it in 1938; it is the 84-kilometer-long train station between Phan Rang and Da Lat. Currently, Dalat Railway Station is employed as an appealing tourist destination, and the sole transfer that Da Lat Station provides is the 7-kilometer route from Dalat to Trai Mat for guests to see Linh Phuong Pagoda.

The station was designed by two French architects, Moncet and Revéron, and constructed between 1932 and 1938. Dalat Train Station was part of the Thap Cham - Dalat railway line, which connected Dalat to Phan Rang.

The railway line was destroyed during the conflict in 1972. Following the country's reunification in 1975, the line was reopened, although only for a brief time due to its low economic viability. Finally, the Dalat Train Station was abandoned.

Dalat Railway Station is one of two government-recognized sites in Dalat, located more than 1500 meters above sea level, and one of Indochina's oldest stations.

The station is no longer part of Vietnam's national railway system, but it remains a popular tourist destination. An old steam locomotive and a carriage-based café are on show here. The station's picturesque environment and old buildings attract many visitors looking for nice photo opportunities.

Recognizing Dalat Train Station's historical value, the Ministry of Transportation began restoring the railway line to preserve its architectural structure for tourism.

Following their loss in Vietnam, the French fled, but the train from Da Lat Station to Thap Cham remained operational. By the time the US arrived in the south, the system was still being used to move products and military equipment for the fight, so the liberating troops cut it off, and the Dalat Railway Station was shut down. In 1972, three railway lines were under construction: Thap Cham - Da Lat - Nha Trang, Cham Towers - Da Lat - Thap Cham, and Saigon - Thap Cham - Dalat. However, when the conflict got more intense in 1972, this railway line was deactivated, and after the liberation, the railway was restored, as was the whistle, on Uncle Ho's birthday, May 19, 1975.

The Da Lat railway project was developed by two French architects, Moncet and Reveron. The building contractor is Vo Dinh Dung, and the total cost is 200,000 francs.

Da Lat station is comparable in shape to the spectacular Langbiang Mountain, measuring 66.5m in length, 11.4m horizontally, and 11m in height. In comparison, the architecture of Da Lat Station is similar to that of the southern station in France, with protrusions from the ceiling that retract to the foot in the vertical direction. Da Lat station contains three summits that represent Langbiang Mountain, the highest mountain in the area. There is a big clock face in front of Da Lat station that shows the time when Dr. Yersin found it.

Da Lat Railway Station was constructed in 1932 as a cog railway and cog railway engine. The railway line is 84 kilometers long, while the cog railway is 16 kilometers long. At the time, cog railways and cog engines were regarded as the most unique in the world. Because we must travel up Ngoan Muc Pass to reach Da Lat. The railway must be built via several subterranean tunnels, and the back must have a push engine. The architects have been building tracks for ten years, and the expenditures are two to three times greater than usual.

The Song Pha-Da Lat railway saw was designed in the Swiss style. The railroad has three rails. The center is meant to be serrated so that the ship may ascend high. This is the sole railway serving Da Lat and Switzerland. There is currently no evidence of serrated portions on the Da Lat railway.

Things To See In Dalat Railway Station:

The station's style is reminiscent of ancient railway stations in France, with an arched roof structure. In front of the station, three-pointed triangular roofs represent the three mountain peaks of Langbiang, as well as a clock commemorating Dr. Yersin's discovery of Dalat.

Da Lat Railway Station is a fascinating and unusual architectural complex that combines Western architecture with traditional Vietnamese community housing style. In 2001, the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism designated the Dalat Train Station as a national architectural relic.

However, in 1997, when Vietnam's economy and tourist sector began to expand, the seven-kilometer railway trip around Da Lat City was launched and has proven to be quite successful. The train station was also repaired. Vintage post boxes and timetables remain on the walls, as do old seats and tables in the waiting rooms.

An authentic Black Prairie steam engine from 1930, made in Germany, may be found outside. The trip, which goes from Da Lat Railway Station to Trai Mat, has been running for a decade. It's worth going for the breathtaking vistas. This is Da Lat, Vietnam's flower capital and fruit plantation. Orchards and undulating vegetable fields may be seen all throughout the city.
