A larger central market was created in 1908, placed right on the former swamp because of increased demand for exchange and purchase. The market was named Cho Dam because of its location on the former swamp.

In order to cater to the requirements of everyday seafood trading, the new market was constructed in a schematic, temporary manner. The present Dam Market Nha Trang was constructed in 1961 and renovated in 1974.
From 31/March/2021, Dam Market Nha Trang was closed and start to construct a new design, new decoration suitable for the tourism and locals for trading. It is expected to complete in 2023.
