VIETNAM NORTH-SOUTH EXPRESSWAY COMPLETE
The Ministry of Transport has set a goal of completing three North-South Expressway component projects by April 30, Vietnam's Reunification Day. The three projects, Mai Son-National Highway No. 45, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet, and Phan Thiet-Dau Giay, total 260 kilometers and are part of the North-South Expressway.

According to the transport ministry, project contractors have been rushing to accomplish items like leveling asphalt surfaces, putting medians, corrugated iron, anti-glare netting and signposts, and marking roads in order to conclude the projects on time.
Furthermore, the ministry inspects construction sites on a regular basis and urges units to accelerate progress and deal with construction delays as soon as possible, with the goal of completing the other six component projects of National Highway 45-Nghi Son, Nghi Son-Dien Chau, Dien Chau-Bai Vot, Nha Trang-Cam Lam, Cam Lam-Vinh Hao, and My Thuan Bridge 2 this year.

According to the government, the 12 municipalities through which the North-South Expressway is scheduled to pass in 2021-2025 have turned up 579 out of 721,2 km of land, accounting for 80.2% of the total.
Fourteen localities of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and the provinces of Can Tho, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, An Giang, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Long An, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau have completed the works of measurement, calculation and compensation plans for the three highways of Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot, Bien Hoa-Vung Tau and Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang, and two ring roads in HCMC and Hanoi.
Land handovers and compensation have been undertaken in Hanoi and the provinces of Hung Yen, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, and Hau Giang. Despite the municipalities' efforts, the ministry stated that ground clearance remains a hurdle for the projects. Site clearance has been completed promptly for projects beginning construction before June 30. However, if compensation plans are not approved quickly, the development of resettlement zones and technical infrastructure would fall behind schedule, according to the government.
- Concerning Building Acceleration:
To expedite the construction of 25 bidding packages for the North-South Expressway in the period 2021-2025, the ministry requested that contractors complete personnel and machinery mobilization, construction designs, coordinate with local authorities to handle procedures for mining construction materials and dumping sites, and list demands for construction materials in accordance with the project implementation schedule for submission to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
The transport ministry also proposed that the government enable the 12 communities through which the expressway travels to complete the conversion of woods, forest land, and wet rice land for the expressway by the second quarter of this year 2023.
